The MFO is pleased to announce that the Government of Japan has approved $216,000 in supplemental funding for FY 2026 to support critical infrastructure improvements in Sinai.
This year’s contribution will enhance water resiliency at Remote Sites 1 and 2, establishing a unified water quality management system at the MFO’s two largest remote locations. The project will strengthen water safety, support operational readiness, and further safeguard our personnel in a demanding desert environment.
This marks the twelfth consecutive year that Japan has provided supplemental funding in addition to its longstanding regular contributions toward food costs and civilian personnel salaries. Japan also continues to demonstrate its commitment on the ground through the deployment of four Japanese Self Defense Force personnel serving in Sinai.
The MFO remains deeply grateful for the Government of Japan’s steadfast partnership and its enduring, practical contributions to our mission and to peace between Egypt and Israel.
