Today marks 45 years since the Protocol to the Treaty of Peace between Egypt and Israel was signed and the MFO was created.

Since then, the MFO has worked alongside Egypt and Israel to help support their peace. Day by day, through observation, verification, reporting, and cooperation on the ground, the MFO has helped build confidence and maintain stability in Sinai.

This work has always depended on many people and many countries. The MFO’s Supporting States have provided personnel, funding, capital equipment, expertise and steady political support. We are grateful for that trust and for the practical support that makes the mission possible.

Most of all, we are grateful to the people who have served with or supported the MFO over the past 45 years — military and civilian personnel, local contracted staff, national authorities, diplomats, and dedicated partners. Their work, often far from home and often outside the spotlight, has shaped the MFO’s story. And that story belongs to all of them.
