Personnel from across the MFO gather each weekday at South Camp's Gym for "The Locker", a CrossFit-style fitness program that has become a popular way for members of different contingents to train together, stay healthy, and build friendships while serving in the Sinai. The program attracts participants from a variety of national backgrounds and fitness levels, creating a welcoming environment focused on personal improvement and teamwork.
Originally established by a previous U.S. battalion as a lunchtime workout, The Locker has continued through successive rotations. Workouts are adapted to local conditions and available equipment, allowing participants of all experience levels to take part.
Participants say the program offers more than physical fitness. It provides an opportunity to connect with colleagues from across the Force, many of whom might not otherwise meet through their daily duties. The shared experience of training together helps build friendships and a sense of community among MFO personnel serving far from home.
For many members, those connections endure beyond their time in Sinai. Participants describe taking home not only improved fitness and new training techniques, but also lasting friendships formed through the multinational environment that makes the MFO unique.
As contingents rotate and personnel change, organizers hope The Locker will continue as a South Camp tradition, bringing together people from across the Force through a shared commitment to health, resilience, and community.
