An initial Troop-Contributing State, the Netherlands provided the MFO with a contingent from 1982 to 1995 and then again from 2013 to 2015. The Netherlands also provided the MFO with a Force Commander, LTG Joop Van Ginkel, who served from 1991 to 1994.

  • The original Dutch contribution consisted of a contingent composed of signals and military police personnel. Over the years, it was re-dimensioned to focus primarily on supporting the MFO’s Force Military Police Unit. These personnel were drawn from the Royal Netherlands Marechausée. After thirteen years of very distinguished service with the MFO mission, the contingent was withdrawn due to competing demands for Dutch support.
  • During the period January 2013 to February 2015, the Netherlands agreed to a temporary deployment of four Dutch staff officers, again drawn from the Royal Netherlands Marechaussée. These officers provided technical support to the MFO; two in the area of force protection and two in police investigations.
  • Since 2006, the Netherlands has been a Donor State providing generous annual financial contributions in support of the peace between Egypt and Israel.
  • The MFO is grateful for all the support the Netherlands provides currently and throughout the years, initially as a Troop-Contributor and now as a Donor State. In particular, we wish to express our thanks and gratitude for the dedication and hard work of all the men and women who served with the MFO over the years. We salute you and thank you for your continuing fervor and support of the MFO mission.
