The 1st US Support Battalion (SPTBATT) has an authorized strength of 222 and is organized as follows:
- Headquarters and Supply Company (HSC)
- Aviation Company (AVCO)
- Medical Company (MEDCO)
- Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment (EOD)

As of June 2007, a significant number of SPTBATT positions are staffed with National Guard soldiers. However, the Aviation Company, EOD Detachment and Flight Medical positions continue to be manned by US Army active duty soldiers. SPTBATT provides direct logistical support to all eleven contingents within the MFO at both base camps and all 28 remote sites. The specific missions and functional responsibilities of each subordinate element is listed below:
- HSC provides the command and control function for all soldiers assigned to the battalion. It provides technically qualified soldiers to the Force Materiel Management Center, Force Transportation Office, Army Post Office, Finance Office, Force Mortuary Affairs and Force Chaplain.
- AVCO provides rotary aviation support to the MFO for the eight UH-60A helicopters provided by US Army. AVCO runs simultaneous operations at North and South Camp and provides general aviation support missions at both, including re-supply, command and control, training, visitor orientation and search and rescue. It provides round-the-clock aeromedical evacuation at both locations and conducts Civilian Observer Unit reconnaissance and verification missions. AVCO performs its own maintenance within the Sinai and operates a Class IX repair parts warehouse.
- MEDCO provides a full range of medical, dental, veterinary, physical therapy and preventative medicine services to the entire MFO. Dispensaries are operated at both camps and flight medics and/or surgeons are available for all MEDEVAC operations. Veterinary and preventative medicine specialists inspect all food and water products consumed by MFO personnel. MEDCO conducts professional medical training for medical personnel from all contingents assigned to the MFO and routinely conducts Expert Field Medical Badge (EFMB) training and testing to all US medical personnel.
- EOD provides explosive ordnance disposal support to the entire MFO. Detachment members not only react to the many mines and other unexploded ordnance left in the Sinai from earlier wars, they also train all newly arrived MFO personnel on the recognition of hazardous ordnance and safe procedures to follow if found. Additionally, detachment members routinely update Force maps with locations of hazardous areas and verify temporary observation posts.
SPTBATT soldiers are assigned for one-year tours of duty and rotate individually or in small group rotations each month. They participate in the full range of MFO activities including the many opportunities for educational, athletic, cultural, religious and social development. They also take advantage of the opportunities to visit the host countries of Egypt and Israel.
